In dieser Zeit habe ich mich auf die Prüfung des amerikanischen Colleges für Sportmedizin (ACVSMR – American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation) vorbereitet. Die Prüfung fand dann im Januar in Florida (USA) statt. Bisher bin ich der Einzige in Deutschland, der zur Prüfung zugelassen wurde, sie auch erfolgreich bestanden hat und nun den Titel Diplomate ASCVSMR tragen darf. Damit bin ich auch einer der Wenigen, die „double boarded“ sind, das heißt, dass ich zwei internationale Spezialisierungen habe, nämlich Chirurgie (Diplomate ECVS) und Sportmedizin – was sich zum Wohle der Patienten äußerst gut ergänzt. Viele Erkrankungen können nämlich durch gezielte Rehabilitation behandelt werden, bei manchen ist dagegen eine Heilung ohne vorherige Operation aussichtslos.
